Meadow Jumping Mouse

The meadow jumping mouse is recognized for its extremely long tail and long hind legs used for jumping. Its coat is thick and coarse, and its underpart is white and puffy. They have eighteen teeth. Their yellowish-brown fur may vary in shade, but no matter what, they always has an olive brown stripe on their back. They are usually seven to nine inches, and usually weigh about one and a half ounces. The average life span for the meadow jumping mouse is about two years at least. Reproduction begins around May. Its Latin name is Zapus hudsonius. Babies don't look like adults at all, because they are pink, naked, and blind. As it gets bigger though, its claws grow in, and its fur gets darker and darker.
